BW Perunding sdn bhd in association with Montgomery Watson Asia were appointed as consultants for the scheme,
which will supply 12 mil gallons/day (56.4 Mld) of portable water from Perlis State to suplement Langkawi Island's
water supply.

The raw water is abstracted from arau irigation canal with the intake located at Simpang Empat and treated prior to pumping to Langkawi Island. The scope of works involved a direct canal intake, raw water pumping station, raw water pumping main (3.7km approximately), all located in Kg.Bharu in Perlis State and terminal storage tank, booster pumping station, and rechlorination plant at Kg.Penerak in Langkawi Island.

The total length of the treated water pipeline is approximately 35km (mostly submerine) and the booster pumping main on Langkawi for transfer of the supply to the existing Pdg.Saga reservoir approximately 16.5km.
