Water Resources Study, Intake, Water Treatment Plant, Reservoirs and Transmission Mains.

The development of Proton City will enhance the industrial development in Mukim Ulu Bernam, Daerah Batang
Padang including the neighbouring districts in Perak as well as in Selangor. Besides Proton City development some
other major development within the vicinity are Diamond Creek, Behrang Industrial Estate and Bernam Industrial Park
which will utilize 2700 ha of land area with additional water demand exceeding 100 Mld.

In order to meet the anticipated additional water demand up to year 2020, a new water supply system is required to supplement and compliment the existing Sg. Dara WTP. The project involved construction of raw water intake at Sg. Geliting (Stage 1) and Sg. Slim (Stage 2), Sg Geliting water Treatment Plant of 124 Mld, 1200 mm via treated water transmission mains to Proton City and also transmission
mains to industrial development, Lembah Bernam and Behrang 2020. BW Perunding Sdn Bhd has been working on this project in association with NIK JAI Associates Sdn. Bhd since January 1997 and construction is expected to be completed in 2001.
